Baroque Art

I learned that the word ‘Baroque’ is a Portuguese word, and Baroque art is from the Baroque period from 17th century to 18th century to create dramatic art, whether it is music, paintings, and sculptures. I have only heard of Beethoven and Mozart music, and they were famous Baroque era composers. This picture is one that I chose to describe the art elements of European Baroque art. The light is peaceful, the art on the walls are done along with the Renaissance times, but during the Baroque era. The architectural structure creates beautiful contours with color, shape, lines, light, and patterns. An intriguing piece of art on the walls of the cathedral.

The Council of Trent

The Council of Trent occurred during the Protestant Reformation and the Catholic Church was faced with many new thoughts and beliefs about faith, and they also put forth many doctrines with issues such as marriage, sin, scripture and position.

David and Goliath sculpture

I liked the Baroque art of David and Goliath, since I know about the story in the Holy Bible where David threw a stone and knocked down Goliath, who was a giant.

  1. Hello Agnes,
I think you need more information on the art, but I like the art you chose, mostly for the sculpture because it’s just in a moment where a person would be able to capture and create that. I recently learn about the meaning of what barque means as well. It’s interesting how the late art were biblical. I think it would be more interesting if you added some of your knowledge of the bible or comparing.
