Germany and Austria-Hungary are believed to have started World War 1 on July 28, 1914 and ended on November 11, 1918. WW1 was the first modern war, because they had airplanes, tanks, and submarines. The armies also had chemical warfare.

Hi Agnes,
I liked how you added a map of the area during this time. I think a lot of times when people talk about world war one they are not entirely sure the area that it covered, other than knowing it was in Europe. I also found the photos that you included super interesting. I knew the story about the assassinations, but I never saw a picture of the guy that did it. You also talked about the sinking of Lusitania, which I believe was a major turning point. The U.S was forced to get involved when there was 128 Americans killed on that ship, which changed the world forever.
