Germany and Austria-Hungary are believed to have started World War 1 on July 28, 1914 and ended on November 11, 1918. WW1 was the first modern war, because they had airplanes, tanks, and submarines. The armies also had chemical warfare.

Gavrilo Princip was a Serbian teenager who is believed to have started World War 1 when he assassinated the Austrian Archduke Franz Ferdidand and his wife Sophie on June 28th, 1914, and the Duchess of Hohenberg. Gavrilo Princip was a Bosnian Serb member of Young Bosnia.

  1. Hi Agnes,

    I liked how you added a map of the area during this time. I think a lot of times when people talk about world war one they are not entirely sure the area that it covered, other than knowing it was in Europe. I also found the photos that you included super interesting. I knew the story about the assassinations, but I never saw a picture of the guy that did it. You also talked about the sinking of Lusitania, which I believe was a major turning point. The U.S was forced to get involved when there was 128 Americans killed on that ship, which changed the world forever.
