Greek God named Zeus

Zeus was the son of the great God Cronus and the great Goddess Rhea. Cronus was afraid that one of his children were going to take over his powers, so then he swallowed them. The only child that he did not swallow was his unborn son, Zeus. Rhea wanted to protect his life, so she gave him away. Zeus was raised by a couple people named Gaia and Adamanthea, and a goat named Amalthea. His parents were giant Titans. Zeus was married to his sister Hera. His parents, Cronus and Rhea, were also siblings who got married to each other.

Zeus was the thunder god in the Ancient Greek religion.

Zeus had several children that also were Olympic gods, including Hercules and Athena. Zeus’ favorite child was Athena, whom he believed that she came from his head. Zeus was killed by a Spartan warrior named Kratos. Zeus tricked his wife, Metis, into turning herself into a fly and he swallowed her to avoid his children from overthrowing him in his power, according to the Greek Mythology.

Baroque Art

I learned that the word ‘Baroque’ is a Portuguese word, and Baroque art is from the Baroque period from 17th century to 18th century to create dramatic art, whether it is music, paintings, and sculptures. I have only heard of Beethoven and Mozart music, and they were famous Baroque era composers. This picture is one that I chose to describe the art elements of European Baroque art. The light is peaceful, the art on the walls are done along with the Renaissance times, but during the Baroque era. The architectural structure creates beautiful contours with color, shape, lines, light, and patterns. An intriguing piece of art on the walls of the cathedral.

Baroque Art

The Council of Trent

The Council of Trent occurred during the Protestant Reformation and the Catholic Church was faced with many new thoughts and beliefs about faith, and they also put forth many doctrines with issues such as marriage, sin, scripture and position.

David and Goliath sculpture

I liked the Baroque art of David and Goliath, since I know about the story in the Holy Bible where David threw a stone and knocked down Goliath, who was a giant.

The Reinvention of Rome by the Catholic Church

The Reinvention of Rome by the Catholic Church

There were artists who sculpted the Catholic Churches in Rome such as Michelangelo and Raphael. Their art was based on the rebirth which was a revival that took place in Medieval Europe during the dark ages. Christianity was a Renaissance movement that revived interest of personal spirituality. The Renaissance ideas spread throughout Western and Northern Europe in the 15th Century. (Cited from Wikipedia.org)

Valentine’s Wreath

Valentine’s Wreath

Art F200X

Valentine's Wreath Art Project.jpg

I made this Valentine’s Wreath from the rim of a plastic Hills Bros. Coffee can cover, a purple Christmas bow, a pink Christmas bow, the red part of a plastic bread bag, white yarn, and a short piece of fishing line to hold the red heart in the middle of the Valentine’s Wreath.

The love in Valentine’s Day is shown through your emotions, body language, and for the love for your significant other, that is instilled inside.

The frame of the wreath is lined with the purple Christmas bow, the wreath has the red plastic bread bag tied to create red bows, pink Christmas bows tied and cut into fourths to look like curly ribbons, white yarn balls to make white outbursts, and the red heart in the middle for “Love inside of you” for a Valentine’s Day Wreath.

The shape of the frame is round and with the colors added, it makes the art piece more intriguing for Valentine’s Day, the purple and pink Christmas bows are smooth in texture, but the pink bows have stiff curls as texture and patterns and/or shapes, the red plastic bread bag bow ties have wrinkles on them, so the surface is not really smooth-lined, the white yarn outbursts have a texture of spiral looking soft braids as a pattern and also a pattern of lines like fireworks outbursts, the shape of the red heart is heart-shaped and the texture of the red heart is smooth, as was the cover of the Hills Bros. coffee container.  The light and the value of the light shows a shadow on the red heart, from the energy efficient light bulb that is on the light fixture.  The tone of the colors are light, medium, and dark on the art piece, and the tone of them are pretty for Valentine’s Day.  The background of the art piece is the wall space which is textured as little white bubbles to go along with the white color for contrast.
